This reserve covers about 1,200 hectares. Visitors can discover a fascinating area downhill of the reserve that is home to large centuries-oil olive groves, which are typical of the Apulian agricultural setting, and a Mediterranean landscape with dunes and marshes. On the contrary, another part of the reserve is still a wetland; consequently, birds, amphibians and insects of such a habitat populate Torre Guaceto. The sports and recreational activities held in the reserve are, among others, hiking (about two-hour-long walking on medium/easy trails), bike hiking (trails allow visitors to enjoy many sceneries of the reserve) and sea-watching to explore also the marine reserve (only in summer); visitors can hire bikes in the reserve. All the activities need booking. Finally, environmental education activities for schools as well as information activities on the nature within the reserve are planned throughout the year.
